I am a huge fan of trends.
I understand they don’t stick around long typically but I think that is the beauty of them. Trends mark the feeling and vibe of the era so 9 times out of 10 I’m here for them. In this “Now Trending” series I talk about the various trends of the time and how you can incorporate them into your everyday wear. Today we tackle the midi skirt! Let’s get started!
The midi skirt has been around for a looong time. It just seems to me it didn’t really have a name before. Think about it. You remember how long average skirts were before the introduction of the mini skirt. This fit is classic and I’m very excited it’s getting it’s time to shine. You can easily dress it up or dress it down for any occasion. There are also so many different patterns and styles this of this skirt you can find it just about anywhere. For your convenience here are just a few I’ve seen that are on my list to buy.
Dress It Up
The most obvious way to wear this skirt is to dress it up. Paired with any kind of delicate top and accessories this skirt is amazing. I’m going for more of a trendy date night look here with Valentine’s day coming up. I paired a lace bodysuit over a white long sleeve bodysuit for a very feminine look. Since most of the country is under ice at this point try adding an oversized coat. I added my amazing teddy coat as a statement piece. And any booties under the sun would nicely round off this look. I got my exact skirt from Charlotte Russe. Unfortunately, they don’t have it anymore but I’ve linked one very similar.
Midi skirts are great because they are so versatile. They can be worn with just about anything which makes them super fun to wear. I like playing with the waist line in my outfits in order to make my legs look longer. Petite girl tip, high waists are your best friend. So why not try a cropped top? Obviously in the winter we go for more of a sweater. I love the ruffle detail on this one in particular. In warmer months try something with a short sleeve or cami! I’d typically wear a look like this for meeting up with friends for brunch or any other semi casual occasion.
Dress It Down
The final way I’m wearing this skirt is to keep it casual. If you know me, you know I love any kind of casual look for everyday. Here I’ve paired it with a nice graphic tee. This particular one is NYFW 2019 inspired because pastels and tie dye are super in right now. Again I went with some layers and added a long sleeve top underneath for a more street style feel. To finish it off, keep it simple with some sneakers or flats. When it gets warmer try breaking out the sandals and you’re all set!
That’s all for today’s post! I hope you all enjoyed it. Let me know what you think in the comments!
