Okay I admit it!
I’ve been faking! My eyelashes aren’t as long as they seem.
For the past two months or so I’ve been trying out lash extensions. If I’m being honest, I am not good at doing my makeup and liked the look of wearing mascara without actually learning how to apply it. In short, I’m lazy and like trying out new things that are going to save me time and effort. Today I want to fill you in on what it’s like to have eyelash extensions in case any of you are thinking of trying them yourself! I asked you guys on my IG stories what questions you have about lash extensions and today I’ll be answering them! Let’s get into it.
Q: Did it take long?
A: Yes, and no. Let me start by setting the scene. Initially when I was talking to the Lash Specialist at Amazing Lash here in Kansas City she gave me an overview of what to expect. She told me the initial appointment would take about two hours and then every refill after takes about an hour.
To myself I was thinking that wasn’t a very long time so I thought I was prepared. I was wrong. It does take two hours but it’s TWO HOURS laying on a bed WITH YOUR EYES CLOSED/TAPED SHUT. Have you ever intentionally closed your eyes for TWO HOURS not trying to go to sleep? No, no one does that. Also, they tape your bottom lashes down so they don’t get the glue they use for the extensions on them. So, I had a small panic attack at one point thinking I couldn’t open my eyes.
I don’t say this to scare anyone into not doing this procedure. Obviously I’m fine and my eyes weren’t taped shut forever. But be prepared for that to happen, I wasn’t and it freaked me out.
Q: Does it hurt?
A: Nope. The whole process is just the specialist gluing fake lashes onto your individual lashes do it doesn’t hurt like getting a tattoo or anything. It is uncomfortable for sure. If you have neck or back problems I would suggest talking to someone at the salon you’re considering because it can put strain on those areas. Overall though, not painful.
Q: How long do they last?
A: Everyone’s lashes grow at a different pace but typically 3-4 weeks until you need a refill.
Q: How much did it cost?
A: That is also going to depend on where you go. From what I’ve seen your first appointment can be anywhere from $80-$200.
Q: Do you like them/would you get them again?
A: I thought about this for a long time. When I first got them, I wasn’t actually a huge fan. The day after my eyes felt very heavy and just irritated in general. Then, it took me a few weeks to get used to how I look with them. After having them for about two months now though,I will keep refilling them as the time comes. As time went on I’ve grown to love how easy my makeup routine is now really like the way they look!
Q: Do you like extensions or false lashes better?
A: Extensions all the way! It takes me so long to try and glue lashes on so I love that these are already done for me. They do require some upkeep though like washing once a day. But I would choose that any day opposed to struggling to put false lashes on.
So there you have it folks!
I hope I was able to answer some of your questions to help you better decide whether lash extensions are right for you! Please let me know any other thoughts or questions you might have in the comments below or on my Instagram!
